About this coffee

This coffee is produced by the Koakaka Cooperative, founded in 2002 and located near the Nyungwe Forest, a lush national park and biodiversity hotspot in southern Rwanda. The cooperative counts over 1300 members, including 297 women, and operates three washing stations: Karambi, Muganza, and Gaseke.

Cherries are carefully selected, depulped, and dried on raised African beds under the sun for about two weeks. This honey-processed lot showcases the natural sweetness and fruit clarity of high-altitude red Bourbon beans.

Koakaka stands out not only for quality but also for its strong social and environmental values. The cooperative provides access to clean water, electricity, zero-interest loans, and free health insurance to members, while actively supporting female farmers through dedicated premium programmes.

In the cup, this coffee is light, juicy, and balanced, with gentle fruit acidity and a delicate, sweet finish.

Tasting Notes: Fruit, sugarAn inspiring Rwandan coffee — vibrant, ethical, and full of life.
