🍫  A warm Guatemalan coffee with milk-chocolate sweetness, dried fruits and a malty finish

The Qawale project was launched by Renardo and Jacqueline Ovalle, long-standing producers from Huehuetenango. More than just a coffee, it is a community-driven programme that supports around 400 smallholder farmers, providing them with fairer remuneration, technical training, and logistical solutions for coffee collection.

This initiative has reshaped local livelihoods: many producers now rely solely on coffee thanks to the quality premium, which has funded improvements in harvesting, drying, and infrastructure. The project also fosters forest preservation and promotes sustainable farming practices.

What makes this coffee even more remarkable is its transport method: it crosses the Atlantic by sail cargo ship, through the FCCO by Sail network. This eco-friendly solution drastically reduces carbon emissions, extending the farm’s commitment to sustainability all the way to Europe.

In the cup, Maya reveals a comforting and generous profile: a malted and milk-chocolate base, layered with dried fruits and subtle sweet, vegetal notes.
