About this coffee

Tucked into the lush mountains of El Guácharo National Park, Hacienda Cocollar is a historic Venezuelan estate that has been in the Avila family for over 50 years. Originally a wedding gift, the farm is now managed by Carlos César Avila, representing the third generation of stewardship.

The 250-hectare farm, shaded by banana and fruit trees, benefits from an ideal altitude and equatorial climate—similar to renowned coffee regions in Costa Rica and Panama. These conditions are perfect for the Bourbon, Catuai, and Caturra varieties grown here.

This unique lot is a Caracolito (peaberry), a natural mutation where only one bean forms inside the cherry, resulting in a rounder shape and a higher concentration of flavour. Though peaberries make up only 5% of production, Hacienda Cocollar has the sorting technology to separate and highlight them.

Dried in the sun for 12 days with its mucilage (honey process), this peaberry cup bursts with floral intensity, apricot sweetness, and a silky honeyed finish.

A rare gem from Venezuela — elegant, expressive, and full of life.
