About this coffee

Café Touba is a traditional West African drink, deeply rooted in Senegalese culture and the Mouride Sufi brotherhood. It’s named after Touba, Senegal’s spiritual capital, and flavoured with Selim pepper — the dried fruit of Xylopia aethiopica, also known as African long pepper.

According to oral tradition, Cheikh Amadou Bamba, founder of the Mouride order, brought the recipe from Gabon during his exile in the late 1800s. To this day, Café Touba holds strong symbolic meaning, often served during religious gatherings and ceremonies.

This house blend combines rich coffee with the aromatic warmth of Selim pepper. The result is a bold, spicy cup with camphor and woody notes, somewhere between clove, incense and sweet spice.

A cultural blend — meditative, meaningful, and unmistakably West African.
